SERMONS.

How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?
- Romans 10:14

Elevate- Vision sharing

God always calls from a high place because He is High and lifted up. As such he is always calling us to His position and estate- to be where He is, as He is. But there's more...

Welcome once again to 2018. In his first Sunday sermon for the year, Pastor Chika shares the Word behind this year's theme, as well as some ideas on upcoming events and plans.

In the book of revelation chapter 4 verse 1, the apostle John heard a voice behind him saying, "Come up here". He was being invited to a realm of insight and wisdom above where he had been prior to this moment. He was being invited to... elevate. In his message, Pastor Chika explains why this matters in the Vision God has for all His children everywhere, and for Vinespring Church in this year. He notes that this call is first an invitation, and that it can only be truly responded to by the same power that offers it.

Another very interesting point he makes is that God always calls from a high place because He is High and lifted up. As such he is always calling us to His position and estate- to be where He is, as He is. But there's more...

Elevate- Listen and be blessed.

God Came Near...

'God Came Near' was the last in our exploring Christmas series. In this sermon, we follow the Wise Men from their earliest observation of that Star, through their journey to the manger in Bethlehem. How was this possible? Is this even possible? What can we learn? Listen in and be blessed.

Christmas is a time of great celebration and joy. Many people across the world, including non Christians, celebrate this annual 'festival' in many different ways. As Christians, along with our other ways celebrating the season, it is particularly a time when we reflect on that great story and the historical fact of Jesus' entrance into the earthly scene. In his Sermon series, 'Exploring Christmas', Pastor Chika invites us to examine the various texts from the Bible that speak of the birth of Jesus- both the prophecies and the events at the time of His birth, with a view to uncover God's present wisdom for us today as we celebrate the physical birth of Jesus Christ.

Believe... 2

Daily, whether consciously or unconsciously, we make that crucial choice of what and who to believe. God wants to always be the one we choose to believe. In the 2nd part of this sermon, Pastor Chika invites us to consider why faith fails. He returns to the parable to remind us of the authority and compassion that attends to all children of God when we pray... believing.

In our fast paced and highly trafficked information age, we can find ourselves constantly bombarded with thoughts and ideas about what is, what is not, and what could possibly never be. Daily, whether consciously or unconsciously, we make that crucial choice of what and who to believe. God wants to always be the one we choose to believe, because He is the only one who truly knows and most genuinely cares about our lives.

In this heart felt delivery,  Pastor Chika examines the parable of the unjust judge as told by Jesus in Luke 18. At the end of the story, Jesus calls us to consider what the unjust judge said. He then went on to call the woman's persistence faith; asking, "when the Son of man shall come shall he find faith on earth?".

In the 2nd part of this sermon, Pastor Chika invites us to consider why faith fails. We are called upon to examine the power of faithful testimonies, and what could happen, not just to individuals but to a generation, when faith ceases to abide. He returns to the parable to remind us of the authority and compassion that attends to all children of God when we pray... believing.

Please listen and be blessed...

Believe... 1

In this first part of the sermon, Pastor Chika wonders why this woman stayed persistent. Is there a lesson? Is there a principle?

In his sermon, Derek makes no apologies as he goes to the heart of the matter with surgical precision and poetic grace. Derek says, "whenever we find that our religious life is making us feel that we are good, or above all, better than someone else, we may be sure that we are being acted on, not by God but by the devil".

Triumph at Gethsemane-Part 2

Continuing our series on the Journey to the Cross, we make a stop in this sermon, on the Triumphal entry.  What was going on in the city at the time? What was going on in the mind of Jesus as could be seen from his steps and actions? They praised Him with shouts and palms, but did they really know who they were exalting? Where or what could have been his real triumphal entry- Praise in Jerusalem, or relief and peace in Gethsemane? And, how can we be triumphant as he was in his own battles?

Listen in as Pastor Chika shares a thought or two. Be warned: He speaks with a passion.
